Testosterone at Chow!
Dr. Pete Hegseth, Secretary of Defense and holder of a medical degree from Fox Medical College honoris causa, announced this week that soldiers over 30 would be tested for testosterone.
Testosterone is the primary male sex hormone and androgen in males. It affects male reproductive tissues such as testicles and prostate as well as promoting secondary sexual characteristics such as increased muscle, bone density, and the growth of body hair. It does not affect behavior.
Those with levels of testosterone deemed unsatisfactory by Dr. Hegseth will be offered testosterone to bring their levels up where the Doc thinks they should be but it’s voluntary. The Dr. Secretary believes increased testosterone will promote “lethality” in the troops even though it does not affect behavior. But what the hell.
Secretary Hegseth does seem to know that modern warfare is influenced by computers and mechanized attacks from modern equipment with all the lethality we need. The days of warfare being the province of marauding soldiers with lots of muscle mass and bone density are over.
These mechanized attacks can be managed by a skinny Bronx Science senior with no muscle mass or body hair but plenty of computer smarts.
I now support Hegseth’s order requiring journalists covering the Pentagon to move about with guides. Reporters need protection from Pentagon personnel flying out of an office wielding syringes loaded with testosterone and jabbing the nearest person!
